Field trip: East Clear Creek with Kurt Radamaker
location:
Saturday, August 24, 2019
6:30 AM - 3:30 PM
On Saturday August 24th, we will explore East Clear Creek above the Mongollon Rim. Because of the high elevation (8000 feet), this canyon is best visited between mid-April and mid-October. It can be reached by taking a 6 mile dirt road off of Hwy 87, about 9 miles north of Clint’s Well. We will park the car where the road crosses the creek, and explore East Clear Creek and one of its tributaries. Key species for this area are: Nokomis Fritillary, Afranius Duskywing, Long Dash and Northern Crescent (pictured).
Please wear sturdy shoes and a hat, bring water, snacks and a sacklunch. A pair of binoculars will be handy too. Trip leader: Kurt Radamaker (kurtrad at mexicobirding.com). Meeting place: Denny’s on Shea Blvd in Fountain Hills at 6:30 am.
We ask for a $5 donation per person.
